Hot Water Conservation

Conserving hot water is far better than saving cold water gallon for gallon.  When you consume hot water you are not only using water, but heat has well. Heat that came from burning fuel in your heater or burning fuel at the electrical generating facility.  Not all electricity is generated by burning fuel of course, there is hydro-electric power, wind power, and solar energy as well.

Since all the sources of electricity are put into the same power grid, it all gets mixed together, so a percentage of the electricity you use is from green sources and the rest is generated by burning fuel.

Burning fuel produces green house gases, and increases our dependency on foreign oil.  The energy to heat water is substantial, and more expensive than the water you are heating.
